From UNC Tectonic Geomorphology
Collaborative Workspace
The Tectonic Geomorphology Laboratory (Rm. 208, Mitchell Hall) provides collaborative workspace for faculty and students. A conference table and whiteboard are available for seminars, informal meetings, and rolling out large maps. Three PC workstations are available for student GIS and remote sensing data analysis. A portion of the laboratory is partitioned into three graduate student offices.
The following computer equipment are available in the laboratory:
- ArcGIS, ENVI, Trimble, and Adobe software
- 1 Mac G5 server
- 2 HP laser printers (color and black + white)
* HP 42in plotter and large-format scanner
Field Equipment
We specialize in high precision field survey equipment, with emphasis in portability and rapid data acquisition.
- 3 Trimble GeoXT differential GPS receivers, capable of portable local differential surveys at sub-meter accuracy
- Portable laser range-finder with internal compass, inclinometer, paired with TDS recon portable data collector.
- Trimble 5800 robotic (1-person operation) high-precision total station
- Toyota Tacoma high-clearance field vehicle with shell for storage of field equipment
- Paleomagnetic rock drill
